Handing wedding guests a wedding favor has almost become a tradition, although nobody really expects to receive anything when going to a wedding, most people will confess to being very happy with a little something to remember the weeding by, a wedding favor.

Not everyone can afford to produce a big flashy wedding and add to that an expensive wedding favor, everyone knows that the cost of a wedding alone (without the added events) can become a very heavy toll on the young couple, a wedding favor does not need to be a very expensive or a rare thing to be appreciated by all. Many people will tell you that receiving a wedding favor is, by itself, a nice gesture and that they would greatly appreciate anything, since it indicates that the bride and groom have thought of their guests.

But what would make a nice, inexpensive wedding favor? What can you think of that will surprise you guests and give them a sense that you truly thought of them and wanted to give them a little something as a token of your appreciation of them coming to your wedding and their wedding gift to you?. Almost anything can be turned into a wedding favor, from chocolates to jewelry, anything can become your wedding favor.

A wedding favor is not limited to one thing, it doesn’t even have to bare the sign of your wedding, although having some soft of indication of the event is always a good idea there is not much point in printing this on a pack of chocolates or even on a specialist coffee.

Many things that you can buy in wholesale will serve you as a wedding favor, your creativity and hard work will do the rest. Think of something that is unique, it can be the date of you wedding, the season or anything both of you – or even one of you – is known to like, or to do, and try to think of things that associate with that passion of yours. Some people like to bring up the way they met on their wedding favor, if you both like tennis, why not go that way, if you cant find something like that, don’t worry – there are still a lot of ideas out there.

Here are a few ideas you can use right away, they are not pricy, and you can make them in a reasonable timing, it wouldn’t take all your energy and it will be a great wedding favor for your wedding guests. Fortune Cookies are always a nice thing, print out a lot of the usual fortune cookie sayings, and you got something to put on every table, try and make the fortunes relate to your wedding, or even to current events, this way everyone will know that this was specially made for the wedding. Deck of Cards is a fun, creative idea, with many possibilities of attaching it to the wedding by printing, writing or sticking things on the cards. A word to the wise, better hand these out as late as possible or you may end up with a few drunk tables forgetting about the wedding and starting poker playing.

A Wedding is one of the most important days in every couple’s life. There are many ways in which the wedding celebrations can be remembered, such as through videos and photographs. There is also another way of having your wedding day remembered by your guests. This is by giving away wedding favors. Wedding favors serves as a souvenir and a gift of appreciation to your guests.
A wedding would not be complete without the wedding favors.

According to history, the Aristocrats in Europe started the giving of wedding favors. The first wedding favors are called bonbonniere. Bonbonniere is made up of sugar that had the shape of a cube. It was placed in a small box that can be made from crystal and porcelain. At that time, sugar was the symbol of wealth and royalty. According to beliefs, sugar had a lot of health benefits. During that era, only the rich people were able to give bonbonnieres to their guests. But with the passage of time, the price of sugar decreased and become affordable for people from all walks of life. This started the tradition of giving away wedding favors.

Now days, choosing wedding favors for the wedding day is not a big issue. From expensive wedding favors to the less costly ones, there’s always a choice for the couples. There is no reason why you will not be able to give wedding favors to your guests.

One of the most popular kinds of wedding favor is food. As we all know, people love to eat. There are different ideas for preparing food as your wedding favor. If you are on a tight budget, you can use Oreos and other chocolate cookies as your wedding favor but first you have to decorate it. Place it inside a box, then put a ribbon on it and attach a small thank you note on the outside the box. You can also bake your own cookies if you want.

Pewter is also a nice wedding favor, however, it is more appropriate for very formal weddings and it is more expensive.

You can also give away flowering plants. If your visitors love it and plant it in their garden, they will surely remember attending your wedding. Place the plant inside a terra cotta planter and then add a small thank you note and decorate the plant with some ribbons or by painting a design on the pot.

Author: Cindy D English

Have you heard of destination wedding favors? I haven’t either, so, I have taken it upon myself to pioneer this phrase. Destination weddings, destination wedding dresses, and now, “destination wedding favors”. I like it!

So what is a destination wedding favor? Something affordable, something practical, something memorable, but something “packable”.

Let’s face it…you will be travelling. The last thing you need to worry about is the safe keeping of your wedding favors. You need favors that are not perishable, breakable or bulky. Something that you can easily slip into your luggage knowing that it will “make the trip” safely.

Candles and candy may melt, glass can break and larger items just take up too much space in the suitcase!

So what is a destination bride to do?

Here are a few ideas for the perfect “destination wedding favor”…

* Silver plated luggage tags shaped like airplanes and cruise ships. What could be more perfect for your destination wedding guests?

* A “scratch and win” lottery ticket tucked inside a pretty glassine envelope is a fun idea.

* Wedding CD’s are becoming very popular. Make your own. Include your wedding song, a favorite photo or two and a personal “thank you” on your disc.

* Make personalized bookmarkers. Design them to include a photo, your wedding date and a thank you note signed by the two of you. Once you are happy with the design, duplicate it, laminate it and dress it up with a tassle or an organza bow. You could use the same idea to create refridgerator magnets.

* Palm or paper folding fans make lovely favors that can be easily decorated to match any theme.

* Personalized pens, pencils or playing cards are something your guests can use.

* Flower seed favors are a happy reminder of your cherished day when planted.

* Paperweights are an attractive, useful memento.

Whether you buy your wedding favors or make them, you don’t have to spend a fortune. They are an expression of your thanks to your guests for having shared your special day with you. Your guests will value the sentiment of your gift, not the cost.

I will leave you with one last thought…

Although giving wedding favors is a nice gesture, it is not a necessity!

If you find yourself needing to cut corners to stay within your budget, this is definitely a practice that could be overlooked without guilt. Few will even notice the absence of wedding favors!
